Everyone is forced to identify himself with something. He considers himself a Hindu and a Muslim, Sikh, Christian and so on. This distinction is on basis of religion. In addition, there are country's economic, social and political areas as also parties and groups. As a result, he thinks that he belongs to Congress, Muslim league, Socialism, Communism etc. and finds himself attached to parties and religions. The party or religion becomes part and parcel his life and he develops biases and narrow view. As result the person is absolutely ignorant of the true state.
The environment forces a child to accept ideas around him. With the same thoughts and influences he gradually matures as a firm believer. Had he been in another religion the same would have been in his environment.
If we observe minutely, the religion is nothing but few ideas, customs and traditions only. A human baby is born without a religion and party. It is not certain which religion and party he would belong to. People nurturing him and various events and stages can mould him.
It is obvious that a child does not come in the world with a religion. He acquires religious ideas from the company he is in and finally becomes religious by wearing the garb of that religion.

प्रत्येक व्यक्ति अपने आपको कुछ न कुछ समझने पर विवश है. कोई अपने आपको हिन्दू समझता है और कोई मुसलमान, सिख, ईसाई इत्यादि. यह भेद-भाव धर्म के आधार पर है. इसके अतिरिक्त देश में आर्थिक, सामाजिक और नैतिक क्षेत्रों में भी पार्टियाँ और धड़ेबंदियाँ होती हैं. इसके परिणाम स्वरूप कोई अपने आपको कांग्रेसी, मुस्लिमलीगी, सोशलिस्ट, कम्युनिस्ट इत्यादि समझ रहा है और उन पार्टियों और धर्मों से गुटबंद हो रहा है. ये पार्टी या धर्म उसके गले का हार होकर उसे पक्षपाती और तंगदिल बनाये हुए हैं. जिसके कारण वह व्यक्ति सच्ची अवस्था से नितांत अनभिज्ञ है.
एक बच्चा जिस प्रकार के वातावरण में पलता है, वह उन्हीं विचारों के ग्रहण करने को विवश है. वही विचार और प्रभाव धीरे-धीरे परिपक्वि होते हुए एक दृढ़ विश्वास के रूप में बदल जाते हैं. यदि वह व्यक्ति किसी दूसरे धर्म के वातावरण में होता है तो उसका धर्म अवश्य उसके वातावरण में होता.
थोड़ा ध्यान से देखा जाय तो धर्म यथार्थ में सिवाय कुछ विचारों और रीति-रिवाज़ के कुछ नहीं है. जन्म के समय मनुष्य का बच्चा बिना किसी धर्म और पक्ष के पैदा होता है. उस बच्चे के विषय में कोई मत स्थिर नहीं किया जा सकता कि वह किस धर्म और पक्ष से संबंध रखेगा. उसके पालन-पोषण करने वाले या घटनायें या अवस्थायें जिस प्रकार के साँचे में उसे ढालना चाहें ढाल सकते हैं.
इससे सिद्ध हुआ कि मनुष्य किसी धर्म के साथ जन्म से लगाव रखते हुए संसार में नहीं आता किंतु जिस धर्म के विचार, प्रभाव उसको संगत में मिलते हैं वह उस धर्म का बाना पहन कर धार्मिक बन जाता है.
